In your own words, please describe Blood Beginnings…. How do you do battle with a vampire so evil as a human, he should have never been turned into a vampire?
What is the genre? Genre is Urban Fantasy with a dash of alternate history
What inspired you to write this book? It was really funny. I was sitting in a class and the idea suddenly came to me. I spent the rest of the taking down notes about my idea instead of the class! It also turned into a NaNoWriMo project. I wrote over 52,000 words during that contest, which was a huge chunk of the book. The other 90+ thousand came so easy because my characters never shut up!
Will this book be a standalone or part of a series? This is the second in The Primigenio Tales series. The first book is called Blood Betrayal. Both are available on e book for under 5 bucks which is pretty sweet.
What message would you like to convey with Blood Beginnings? I want readers to be uncomfortable. I want them to find my villain repellant character interesting or even intriguing or attractive to prove that is just what happened in 1930’s Germany. I want them to kind of squirm with liking the guys of the dark side and then come back to the light knowing that.
What books are similar to this one? It is similar to other vampire romance series or even Reich by Donald Kirsch. If the reader likes a little something different in their book, they are going to get it with this one!
What has been the best moment in your writing career? The best moment in my writing career was getting the email with the offer to publish my books. Second best was Blood Betrayal winning the Best Paranormal in the Do It Write Literary competition.
How do you come up with the titles of your book? My publisher titles my book. None of the current titles are what the working title was.
How long does it take you to finish a novel? Like I said before Blood Beginnings took about 3 months for a first draft and then another 2-3 to polish it. Blood Betrayal took about 9 months to write and get publisher ready.
How can readers connect with you? I have a Facebook page Alison Beightol, Author page that I love to hear from readers of fans. Any kind of question or request I will answer or try and honor or if you just want to say hi!
What are you working on now? I am working on the final installment of The Primigenio Tales: Blood Bound. It is taking me a lot longer to write than I anticipated due to life getting in the way and my characters not talking to me. But I am slowly working on it. I am also working on a light hearted “chick lit” book about an assuming girl opening an escort agency out of desperation.
